IS COMEDY BAR LGTBQ FRIENDLY?

Absolutely.

I'M UNDER 19. CAN I STILL COME TO A SHOW?

Comedy Bar is an all ages venue, although we do recommend guests under 19 be accompanied by an adult. As the majority of the shows at Comedy Bar are independently produced, we cannot guarantee the content of any show will be appropriate for all ages. Have a young one interested in learning more about comedy? We recommend checking out Bad Dog Theatre's Youth Program (Link: http://baddogtheatre.com/youth/classes/)

IS COMEDY BAR WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Due to the independent nature of our venue, the entrance to Comedy Bar is not wheelchair accessible, at this time. However, once inside, both theatres, bar area and washrooms are located on a single level.

I SEE YOU OFFER SKETCH, IMPROV, ALTERNATIVE AND STAND UP SHOWS. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT FOR ME?

Comedy Bar is Toronto's independent comedy hub. It's a place where all kinds of comedy takes place, from alternative to mainstream. We always recommend taking a chance on a show you've never heard of; taking a risk is the best way to find the hidden gems.

Here's a quick cheat sheet for some of the terms you will find on our show calendar:

Improv : Comedy made up on the spot. Sometimes in the form of long stories (or 'narratives') and sometimes in the form of short punchy word games. For high energy, competitive improv, see Catch 23 or Beerprov.

Sketch : Comedy that is written, rehearsed and performed by a group of people. A sketch show is usually a collection of short, independent scenes full of quirky characters. For a new, weekly sketch show performed alongside a live band see Sunday Night Live.

Stand Up : Jokes that are written, rehearsed and performed by one person, alone on stage. Stand Up shows may be programmed around one accomplished headliner, or may be programmed according to a theme. Most of our Stand Up shows are on Fridays and Saturdays. If you'd like to try your hand at it, come to an open mic show, such as Propen Mic, Tuesdays at 9:30PM.
