Empire Comedy Live presents Chris Redd at Comedy Bar for 5 shows from Thursday January 3rd to Saturday January 5th.
Chris Redd is a stand up comedian, actor and writer, born in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Chicago, IL at the age of 8. Considering himself a Chicago Native, Chris embraced his musical roots and sought to become Chicago's next great Hip Hop artist. However it was Chicago's vibrant comedy scene that influenced Chris and called him into comedy.
While performing stand up around the city, Chris began training with the historic Second City Chicago and iO Theater Chicago. It was with that training that Chris created and produced his own stage production at the well-known Southside Chicago comedy club Jokes & Notes. Chris refined his character and sketch writing while touring with the illustrious Second City and had a brief stint on their E.T.C stage before venturing on to work at NBC on an Untitled Sketch Comedy Pilot.
After leaving The Second City, Redd had roles on TV series Chicago PD and Empire before landing the breakout role of "Hunter the Hungry" in The Lonely Island's movie Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, which also featured Second City alum Tim Meadows and was produced by Harold Ramis FIlm School advisory board member Judd Apatow.
Redd's Comedy Central half-hour special aired in September, 2017, and he co-starred with Kathy Bates in the first season of Chuck Lorre's Netflix original series Disjointed as Steven "Dank" Dankerson, one of the fictional marijuana dispensary's best customers. Chris was deemed a New Face in the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal last year and can be seen traveling all over the world with his stand up comedy.
In September of 2017, Redd made his debut on SNL's 43rd season premiere, where he has appeared in sketches with guests Chance the Rapper, Miley Cyrus, and Tiffany Haddish.
