This workshop explores the power of restraint and pacing in improv. Students will learn that scenes don’t need to be wall-to-wall laughs to be effective, and that moments of normalcy often make the comedic beats land harder. Through exercises and scene work, performers will practice slowing down, playing grounded behavior, and allowing space between jokes. By “hitting the brakes,” students will discover how clarity, contrast, and patience create stronger scenes and more memorable comedy.
