WHEN: Saturday, May 2nd & May 9th from 12:00pm - 3:00pm
COST: $200 + Tax
LOCATION: Comedy Bar Bloor
Whether you're a beginner or an established drag performer, this two-day workshop, which includes a live performance showcase on May 20th, will help you explore your drag persona's point of view and character voice on the microphone.
We will help you tweak and punch up a five-minute stand-up set that you will present during a live showcase on the Comedy Bar Bloor Main Stage on Wednesday May 20th.
Before the first workshop, put together a rough draft (500-650 words) containing the mic work material you want in your set and bring this with you. A Google doc of this material will also be submitted to the instructor for review before class. You do not need to have this fully memorized.
May 2: First Day
The first half of day 1 will consist of improv exercises to get you out of your head and thinking on your feet. We'll explore your drag persona's POV, how you see them and how you want the audience to see them. You'll present your first draft of material on stage to receive feedback, suggestions, and punch ups for jokes, and to explore where premises can be expanded.
May 9: Second Day
This will consist of writing exercises, crowd work practice, and running and punching up your set ahead of the showcase.
May 20: Optional live performance showcase at Comedy Comedy Bar Bloor at 8pm!
