DESCRIPTION

This course is for experienced improvisers looking to deepen their skills in longform improvised Shakespeare. Through 7 in-studio classes and a run of optional performances, students will focus exclusively on creating rich, sustained Shakespearean stories driven by heightened language, authentic characters, ensemble play, and the timeless themes of the Bard.

Explore the principles of Shakespearean storytelling, poetic language, status, character relationships, and dramatic structure while learning to build cohesive, fully improvised plays inspired by Shakespeare's works. Students will develop confidence in verse, genre conventions, and collaborative world-building to create compelling performances from nothing.

All graduates of Pro Improvised Shakespeare will be invited to perform in an extended run of STUDIO SATURDAYS. Ticket sales from these performances will be split 50/50 between the performers and Comedy Bar.

PREREQUISITES

This class is by submission only. Applicants must be a graduate of an improv program or have 3+ years of industry experience to be eligible.
