AmeriCanadian
A One-Woman Song Cycle by Meredith Mullen
Musical Direction by Jacob Ollivier
Directed by Carly Heffernan
Hosted by Marc Hallworth
In AmeriCanadian, writer and performer Meredith Mullen shares her funny, heartfelt, and sharply observed journey of immigrating from the United States to Canada at 19. Told through an original song cycle, the show explores identity, culture shock, and what it means to build a new life in a new country—one song, one laugh, and one emotional moment at a time.
Meredith is an alum of The Second City Toronto’s Touring Company and has performed at Just For Laughs Festival, Montreal Sketchfest, Toronto Sketchfest, Philly Sketchfest, and was named Best of the Fest at Orlando Sketchfest.
The night opens with 20 minutes of stand-up from the infectiously joyful Marc Hallworth, who’s been described as “too poor for how happy he is.” Originally from Calgary, Marc’s debut album Happy Pappy plays regularly on SiriusXM, and his credits include JFL42, NXNE, Jersey City Comedy Festival, and a win at the Folk N’ Comedy Best Set Competition. He’s a Yuk Yuk’s regular, a veteran improviser, and part of the award-winning sketch troupe Vest of Friends.
With Jacob Ollivier on musical direction and Carly Heffernan directing, AmeriCanadian is a tuneful, comedic, and deeply personal exploration of where we come from—and what it takes to find where we belong.
