Paul Bates is a writer, actor and director. A veteran of Toronto comedy stages, he got his start at The Second City, where he wrote and performed in six revues. Paul was a senior writer for The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos (CBC) for three seasons. He has also worked for Gaming Show (In My Parents' Garage) (YTV), InSecurity (CBC) and The Second City Project (Global), and has written specials for William Shatner, Martin Short and others. Paul's writing has been nominated for a Gemini Award (for The Hour), and a Canadian Screen Award (for the special Long Story Short: CBC at 75). Paul directs a lot of sketch shows for independent artists and professional companies alike, many of which have won festival awards. His most recent professional work is a full-length adaptation of the works of Wayne & Shuster. |
