DESCRIPTION

The Harold is the grounding force in all other Chicago Style Long-Form improv formats. It embeds a three-beat structure in the players game, which is essential to fully master formats like The Armando, The Slacker, The Living Room and more. It makes players adept in playing in large group scenes, that by the Harold’s nature, requires the entire team to participate in.

In this class, you will not be learning the basic Harold (often referred to as “The Training Wheels Harold”), but an advanced version of the Harold that your instructor, David Shore, describes as, “the Harold that I watched House and Chicago Alumni Teams performing.” While this form of the Harold is more challenging, it can cut a year out of a player’s development!

While still encompassing the classic Harold structure, students in this course will be taught how to make advanced moves, learn both set and organic group games as well as classic and advanced Harold openings.

PREREQUISITES

This class is by Audition only. Applicants must be a graduate of a comedy program or have 3+ years of industry experience to be eligible.
